This is truly a Great Course. It is my belief that the reason and basis for its exceptional high quality and worth is that professor Viskontas is both a musician and a physicist. She is able to cope with the facts of the physical world and still feel the beauty and wonder of creation.

Much better than expected. Was skeptical than a course with it's ambitious, "12 Essential Scientific Concepts" could cover much in 24 30 minute lessons. Expected some brief gloss and simplistic explanations. Was wrong, This course is a good, broad survey with enough detail to give good introductions to a wide range of scientific concepts. Noticed on the parent site www.thegreatcourses.com, that these ship with a a Course Book that has outlines of each lecture and recommendations for further study. This should be added to GreatCoursesPlus when it goes live. Sure, you could nitpick the content or minor errors in the presentation, but it wrong to focuses on minor shortcomings in such an ambitious effort that succeeds in it it's aim. Very good! Will have to spend more time reviewing this one!
