Rated 4 out of 5 by from All in all, a helpful course I had bought Prof. Satterfield's course on Cognative Behavioral Therapy and enjoyed it. Although I learned a good deal from this course, I have two bones to pick. First of all, I would have liked to measure my own EQ, and that was not offered. Actually, it was offered, but with a $200 price tag online! Second, I felt that almosst all of his examples were incomplete in some way. Usually, He failed to complete the scenario with diagnoses, conclusions, and final lessons. Examples of this are: we were given scenes from "A Star is Born", but we were not given a list or explanation of the emotions depicted. We were given vignettes of the subjects, but they didn't reach a conclusion as to diagnoses, opinions of the therapist, lessons learned. I think maybe Prof. Satterfield is trying to cover too much material instead of covering less more satifyingly. I give him a B- for trying.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lots of helpful information I bought this course because I had read Daniel Goldman's book on Emotional Intelligence some years ago, and was interested in learning more. This video was more than I had expected, with role plays, lots of references to other resources, and helpful explanation of many aspects of EQ. I will go through parts of it a second time, since some of the material was quite new to me. This course had helped me in personal growth, and also helps me to better relate to the emotions of my spouse, since she experiences emotions very differently than I do.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great lecturer, but too little time on specifics I found the lecturer to be interested to listen to, he was quite well spoken and enunciated clearly. There were a few hiccups, but that happens in most of the courses I've listened to. You can tell that he's a person who actually cares about the work he does and the service he is providing to humanity. I also enjoyed the little skits they had. It would have been better if they clearly stated that these were actors, but it seems obvious enough that they were. Perhaps a combination of acting and realism (enough of the truth to make it seem genuine). At first they seemed a little cringe and like time wasted, but as you get deeper into the course and understand more you begin to see the value in them. I honestly believe that the cringe was the issue caused by not clearly stating whether they were actors. You weren't sure how much disbelief you needed to suspend and so your disbelief oscillated a little back and forth until you came to a happy equilibrium and could focus more intently on the content rather than the acting or belief in the scenarios themselves. As for the comment about too little time on specifics. I realize that this course was on emotional intelligence in general, but I would have enjoyed a little more time on specific emotions. Dr. Satterfield did cover the big emotions like anger, sadness, happiness, etc, but didn't spend enough time on things like jealousy or shame and how these emotions might change the way in which we perceive the world. There are a few other courses on emotions, so perhaps they will spend more time on such things. All in all I think this was a great course (ha!), and I would definitely recommend this to someone who wanted to increase their own emotional intelligence or that of their children, students, friends, partner, etc.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The topic is certainly worthy! The teacher is well informed. This 'ho-hum' rating is for two reasons: 1. the teacher seems to be reading from a tele-promptor which makes him seem disconnected from his audience. 2. the teacher refers, too many times, to his 'other' course that he obviously wants us to buy. I resent that sort of badgering.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Course! With Stress being the cause of so many diseases, this course is extremely valuable to help cope with its ever increasing impact on health. I particularly bought the course to learn more about depression, a disease that is devastating to so many people and their families, as well as being the focus of the World Health Organization for 2018.
