Moon Rock Revelations: An Inside Story

Lecture no. 1 from the course: Apollo 11: Lessons for All Time

Moon Rock Revelations: An Inside Story

Taught by Professor Robert M. Hazen and 3 others | 23 min | Categories: The Great Courses Plus Online History Courses

What can the samples collected by the Apollo astronauts tell us about the Moon? Neil Armstrong and his fellow explorers were able to bring back about 50 pounds of rocks and soils that revealed things about the Moon that we had never known, or even surmised. Join Professor Bob Hazen, mineralogist and crystallographer, to uncover what the Moon is made of, how the Earth and the Moon are intimately connected, and the minerals that form the Moon.

Fascinating that the moon is the result of the earth and another planet colliding with the earth. So the earth and moon are somehow the mixture of two planets. I can't wait to learn more about how our earth existed 4 billion years ago, thanks to the samples collected from the moon.
