Some good info for me in that I don't use any social media. One solution to the real problems discussed in this lecture are -- don't use social media. Don't use google (instead use duckduckgo), or any Microsoft or Adobe products. Never log on to anything exchanging free content for your personal information. Use a VPN for even for casual 'net use. Remain anonymous and leave few to no tracks. Don't tolerate ads of any kind--install Adblock, and Noscript, and whitelist scripts only on sites you really trust. If a site then doesn't work, don't go there. And Newsguard mentioned in the lecture claims to fight fake news, but it merely trashes web sites for which it has a political disagreement. It's fake news about fake news.
