Mindlessness—The Default Setting

Lecture no. 1 from the course: Practicing Mindfulness: An Introduction to Meditation

Mindlessness—The Default Setting

Taught by Professor Mark W. Muesse | 32 min | Categories: The Great Courses Plus Online Health,Fitness & Nutrition Courses

Do you control your mind, or does your mind control you? Consider the possibility of cultivating the mind in ways conducive to deep well-being for yourself and others.

He seems to make a gross error at the very start of this by disassociating the self from other parts of the mind. You are those thoughts about what's on television, about someone's new haircut. You cannot separate the rational parts of your mind from the impulsive ones. In essence, you are the bull and the bronco.
