Loved this course! What a daunting task - covering all areas of geology in an overview! I enjoyed Professor Renton's lectures, delivered almost conversationally. Yes, sometimes he backed up, corrected himself, but that's what many instructors who are truly engaged with their students do. They are not only focused on the subject, but its larger meaning in the world, in society, and to each individual. I have always been interested in geology, and this course encouraged me to purchase a couple books on Earth Science in order to followup on topics I found the most interesting. Thank you, Great Courses, for arranging for the creation of this course, and thank you, Professor Renton for a truly interesting series of lectures.

I'm not quite finished with the course yet, but intend to complete all lectures. While I can't say that this is my favorite course I've watched/listened to, it is a fantastic course and Professor Renton is highly knowledgeable and has put together an easy to understand, comprehensive series, delivered with enthusiasm and passion. Plenty of examples of real-life application. I'm listening to this alongside a college course I'm currently taking, Intro to Physical Geography, and Renton's course covers all of the same material but significantly better in just about every way - more accurate, more robust, more interesting, better mechanisms for retaining the information, better presentation. I've hardly known anything about Geology & Earth Science my entire life, and I'm thoroughly enjoying learning about it from TGC.
