This is a great overview of what archeology in the Holy Land, and Jerusalem in particular, can and cannot tell us about the physical evidence of past inhabitants and major events. It demonstrates that the documentary sources of the Hebrew Scriptures, the New Testament, and Josephus, are increasingly confirmed in their identification of people, places, and cultural context, such as the discovery of a dedication stone naming Pontius Pilate as procurator in Judea. Further work in Israel just in the few years since this course was filmed has gone even further in attesting the reasonableness of the Chirch of the Holy Sepulchre site as a plausible location for both the crucifixion and burial of Jesus of Nazareth, as reported in 2018 by National Geographic. Also, her "prophecy" at the end that new technology would continue to expand the abilities of archeologists has come true in many ways, the most notable being a 2018 LIDAR survey of the jungles around existing Mayan pyramids that has revealed that there are literally 10 times more areas with remains of that ancient civilization that have never been identified before, let alone exhumed. It is clear that the Bible is the group of documents that preserves the most accurate record of the times of its authors, from circa 1200 BC to 100 AD, and it is a legitimate choice to trust its authors in their descriptions of the miraculous and divine events they attest to.
