Inexplicable Cosmology

Lecture no. 6 from the course: The Inexplicable Universe: Unsolved Mysteries

Inexplicable Cosmology

Taught by Professor Neil deGrasse Tyson | 34 min | Categories: The Great Courses Plus Online Science Course

Take a fascinating trip through dimensions higher than our own. You’ll discover how quantum physics and string theory have opened our eyes to the possibilities of quantum foam, the multiverse, antimatter, and tachyons. Also, join Dr. Tyson for a preview of the long-term fate of the universe (including the collision of galaxies, the burning out of stars, and the decay of orbits into black holes).

A very well done presentation on the current mysteries and thought-provoking concepts of the universe! With plenty of images and animations showing what Tyson is explaining. Much more than I've seen for any other professor on The Great Courses. Makes me feel a little bad for all the professors who aren't celebrities. Not that I know for a fact that is why this series had a higher production value, but that is my hypothesis. Anyway, as one other reviewer pointed out, the Pioneer mystery that Tyson talks about has already been solved. It turns out that this series was filmed shortly before the answer was discovered.
