The Chemical Potential

Lecture no. 9 from the course: Thermodynamics: Four Laws That Move the Universe

The Chemical Potential

Taught by Professor Jeffrey C. Grossman | 33 min | Categories: The Great Courses Plus Online Science Course

Study molar and partial molar quantities, which are indispensable for describing what happens when materials are combined. Focus on the case of water mixed with ethanol, which adds up to a surprising volume. These ideas lead to one of the most important variables in thermodynamics: chemical potential.

One of the best lectures on thermodynamics which is not an easy topic. I liked the illustrations and metaphors that the lecturer uses to make the topic clear and understandable.
