Reporting 9/11 and Why It Still Matters

In the span of a heartbeat, journalists covering the events of 9/11 had to make one life-changing decision: report or run.  Don't miss Wondrium's exclusive documentary featuring the experiences of 45 journalists on September 11th.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ASTONISHING I am no friend of the US. I am not American. I am Canadian, and I was in northern Ontario on 9/11. I did not even hear about it until several days later. When I did hear about it, I thought America was rather over-reacting. Even over the years I couldn't understand why all the emotion. Folks, this was the first time I saw it all! Whether or not this course continues (and of course I hope it does) I am astonished at this piece of journalistic reportage in just this trailer. To confess that I had been grossly misreading the event would be laughable understatement. Thank you Great Courses for showing me this. I am going to have to watch it again...and again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good doc! Since it is the 9/11 memorial weekend I am watching number of films and TV specials in the weekend. So this documentary is a good addition too. Thanks for it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Important doc to watch On 9/11/2001 I was living on a small Pacific island called Saipan, 100 miles north of Guam. I turned on CNN in the late evening (local time) to video of a smoking World TradeTower and the news (at that time) it was believed to have been caused by a small private plane. Minutes later, a second plane, a commercial jet crashed into the second tower, live on air. Then, other plane crashes were being reported. It was difficult to conceptualize what was happening. I rang all I knew to wake up and turn on CNN. This documentary is exceptionally good. It brings back strong memories of that day and gives insights into the minds of the journalists reporting. That day changed the world but not for the better. This particular doc, from the perspective of the journalists, memorializes events that should not be forgotten and a day all children need to be aware.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thank you for doing this documentary While hard for me to watch, with tears often coming out, this is such an important story to share with future generations and, in fact, with those living today who seem to have forgotten how essential unity and common purpose are as a nation. I greatly appreciated hearing the personalization of this story from the reporters who witnessed it; they too were scarred by the horror of it all. Your documentary was simply superb, even if so very difficult to watch for many of us still pained deeply by that day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This was a nice review from the journalist point of view. It was nicely done. As a doctor who worked the ER during 9/11 I will never forget that day as well as the unity which occurred in this NY and this country. I am grateful that social media like Facebook, twitter etc... did not exist back then as the outcome I fear would be different.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from 9/11: This has nothing to do with journalism Well, its a nice documentary, no real discussion on why its journalism other than they were there,. It really just skimmed the surface. This is a nice documentary for the History Channel but for this forum its sort of basic.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must watch This is a part of 9/11 everyone needs to watch. We have heard from First Responders and people and the families of those who lost their lives that awful day. I had always wondered about the journalist. Thank you for sharing this as each person involved their recollections come together with all the facts we have been shown. I am sure there is more to be learned.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from whole family found this very powerful This documentary was exactly what I was looking for to show my 17, 15 and 10 year old sons. It was powerful, but not dramatic. Hearing the experiences of the journalists gave a powerful perspective into the day and the experiences of those on the ground. I think everyone should watch this.
