The Power of Body Language

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Interesting, but distracting Her information is valuable but her presentation is degraded by a repeated slip of usage that is grating and annoying. Over and over, instead of "I said..." she says "I was like..." This is the most illiterate locution in modern English. Hard to take her seriously.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great information This course has been helpful in many ways, professionally, personally and even with my children. I now have a better way to look at any situation and truly see what someone may be feeling, thinking or to determine if they're lying.....

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good content I think the content is good and comprehensive. Professor has good energy (its obvious that she is a very experienced trainer) I expected the guide book to be similar to the format TTC always used. It was disappointing not to find a "lecture by lecture summary and citations" Overall I would recommend the course but the HARD SCIENCE suggestion falls short until each "LAW" is supported by citations

Rated 1 out of 5 by from "Science" as a basis .. really? I am disturbed when I hear SOFT science being touted as if it is analogous to HARD science. I've not heard anything about the research and how they tested to authenticate the validity of any of this. I'm not saying it isn't true, I'm not saying that many of the observations aren't accurate, but, if a lie detector (which is measuring HARD physical reactions) cannot be permitted in a court of law, where does this fit in the scheme of application?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best of the best! Highly recommended if you want to unlock the secrets of body language. Engaging and full of activities and interactive - not a ‘lecture’ although full of scientific facts and most importantly how to put them in practice in a day to day setting. There’s a live audience - workshop style.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Presented very well, with examples, book unworthy I have over 30 courses now. This one is a topic I have high interest in. I would have given the course 5 stars but the book which is included is not very helpful. When you go to the website which the course tells you to for additional quizzes, the expected info is missing. I did a lot of searching to find the quizzes so far and I am only on the second DVD. For the money I expected a bit more continuity. However the content is so far outstanding.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Practical Course I'm glad I purchased this course. "The Power of Body Language" does a good job of combing what we currently know about the subject of body language into one comprehensive course. This is an especially good resource for those entering the business world, or who are unfamiliar of the science of body language. Of all the instructors I’ve seen, Vanessa is one of TGC's most dynamic and engaging. Hopefully we'll see more courses from her in the future. Something that I liked was the use of audience questions to clarify various points--its very effective. One drawback is the brevity of the guidebook. I would have preferred a longer, more detailed coursebook. Also, viewers should be aware that the research done by Amy Cuddy on power posing (a source for some of the information in this course) is somewhat controversial. Criticisms aside, this is a good resource for business professionals, or anyone who has to make a lot of presentations--making it one of TGC's more practical offerings. This course combines a lot of useful information in a nicely presented format. As a last note, one section I especially enjoyed was the chapter on photography.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Entertaining and enlightening I've been studying negotiating techniques and realized how important body language is to every day communication. I also realized how little I knew about how body language is perceived and how I can use it to influence and communicate my point of view. I did really enjoy this course and learned a great deal of useful information. I also felt like that the advice was evidence based and not just popular opinions. In the end I was rooting for the students in the class and thought that their participation added more depth and understanding.
