I would watch any lecture series by Professor Liulevicius. The obvious depth of his knowledge shines through in every section, vibrant and unpretentious. I have recommended this particular course several times to people over the last couple of years. It is one of, if not the best set of lectures I have ever encountered on this complex and contentious region. Professor Liulevicius draws forth this history with as unbiased a presentation as you will find anywhere. Having watched several other of Professor Liulevicius' courses, I turned to this one hopeful I might get a further insight into, and confirmation of, the history I was steeped in as a child. I came away from this series nothing less than thoroughly impressed with his fair treatment of such a vast subject, but also with his ability to reveal the subtleties of thought, actions, and relations in this region so succinctly. As a third-generation American of Slavic background, I was delighted with this straightforward and informative course on the "other" Europe. It would be a great way for Westerners to gain a true, honest understanding of this vibrant, storied, and exciting region of the world which is so often passed quickly over, despite being often the root and heart of all the European events that are well-known.
